Vikings Wire explains why Mekhi Blackmon will be a reliable contributor in Minnesota

.@TheVikingsWire has another #USC player to evaluate in Minnesota. See what #Vikings Wire said about Mekhi Blackmon. #SKOL #NFLDraft

Get ready to learn more about the Minnesota Trojans … or so it seems. The Minnesota Vikings took another USC Trojan in the 2023 NFL draft on Friday. The Vikings surprised a lot of draft experts by pulling Mekhi Blackmon off the board on Day 2, much earlier than most draft analysts predicted. Blackmon joins Jordan Addison in Minnesota. The two should have a lot of fun going at each other in practice. It’s clear that as USC teammates, iron sharpened iron. Blackmon and Addison made each other better. Now they both get to contribute to a Viking team which certainly has a chance to make a run in the NFC.

You will want to follow Vikings Wire for complete Minnesota Trojans — errr, Vikings — coverage. Here’s a small sample of what Vikings Wire had to say about Mekhi Blackmon:

(h/t Kevin Fielder of Vikings Wire)

“At USC,” Fielder wrote, “Blackmon held his own against wide receivers in man coverage, flipping his hips and using his athleticism to track with wide receivers … While Blackmon’s technique isn’t perfect, he’s constantly trying to get in the right position, which helps him stay in the play. There were very few times on tape that Blackmon was entirely out of position, which is half the battle in the NFL. Even if he struggles with the finer techniques, Blackmon will contribute immediately at the next level.”
