Daniel Jones will make his 11th start of the season Sunday when the Giants (3-11) visit the Redskins (3-11).
Head coach Pat Shurmur confirmed the news Friday, although it isn’t exactly surprising as Jones was back in the mix Wednesday at practice after rehabbing an ankle injury suffered a couple weeks ago. The rookie took over as the starter for the team in Week 3, starting 10 consecutive games before suffering a high ankle sprain versus the Packers on Dec. 1.
Veteran Eli Manning started each of the Giants’ last two games, but it seems the former starter’s farewell tour is over now. Or at least.. it doesn’t include a start in the game against the Redskins Sunday.
Jones has 2,374 passing yards this season and leads all NFL rookies with 18 passing touchdowns. He’ll go against fellow rookie QB Dwayne Haskins as he retakes the field.
“I feel better this week,” Jones said Wednesday. “Through it, I felt like I’ve progressed every day and every week. Hopefully, I’ll continue to do that through this week and I’ll feel even better Sunday.”
