Vanessa Bryant found an unopened letter from Kobe Bryant the day before her birthday

“Wish we were all together.”

On Tuesday, Vanessa Bryant experienced her first birthday without her late husband, Kobe, and daughter, Gianna, who were killed in a January helicopter crash with seven others.

But even in his tragic death, the former Lakers star managed to provide Vanessa with something to look forward to on her 38th birthday.

Vanessa posted to Instagram on Tuesday that she had discovered an unopened love letter from Kobe with the envelope labeled, “To: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi.”

Rather than open the letter when she found it on Monday, Vanessa waited one day until her birthday to open and read what Kobe had written for her.

She wrote on Instagram:

Yesterday I found an envelope labeled To: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi ❤️I waited to open one more letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today.❤️The irony is that Kobe had a photo of me drawn with an Angel holding me up by an artist on the cover. Missing the Love of my Life and my sweet little Mamacita- my fellow Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my 3 sweet girls today. Wish we were all together. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️#MyBirthdayWish
