It’s been an ongoing struggle to find many national journalists who believe the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to register three wins or more. That trend continued today after our comrade from USA TODAY, Nate Davis, slotted the Jags with a 3-13 record in his latest prediction.
Jacksonville Jaguars (3-13): It’s hard not to love QB Gardner Minshew II. But it’s easy to hate the forecast of a team with significant internal issues – and one that seems outclassed by the rest of its division. Would have been a good year to camp out in London.
It’s possible the predictions like Davis’ stem from the Jags losing a lot of key veterans this offseason like Calais Campbell, Nick Foles, Marcell Dareus, A.J. Bouye, and Marqise Lee. However, a key to remember with the Jags is that it shouldn’t be ruled out that their rookie class could be very impactful. After all, they are coming off a season where they got major contributions from Gardner Minshew II, Josh Allen, and Jawaan Taylor, all of whom were apart of the 2019 draft class.
When adding those players potential development with the 2020 rookies and established players like D.J. Chark, Leonard Fournette, Brandon Linder, Joe Schobert, and Myles Jack, it’s hard to see the Jags winning just three games. That’s not to say they will have a winning season either, but six to eight wins is about where they could land — that is if they don’t continue to take hits on the defensive line.
As for Davis’ Super Bowl picks, he had the New Orleans Saints (12-4) winning the big one over the Baltimore Ravens (14-2). Additionally, he had the Tennessee Titans winning the AFC South (10-6), with the Indianapolis Colts (10-6) earning a wildcard spot and the Houston Texans (7-9) coming in third place.
