Under new CBA, Broncos will have more games and a better chance to reach playoffs

Under the new CBA, the Broncos will begin playing 17 games in 2021. The team will also have better odds of reaching the playoffs.

NFL players voted to approve a new CBA on Sunday, paving the way for the Broncos to have a larger roster and practice squad in the coming years. Beginning next year, Denver will also have a longer season.

Starting in 2021, the NFL will switch to a 17-game regular season. That’s among the most notable changes under the league’s new CBA. To help make the expanded regular season more practical, the NFL will shorten the preseason to three games.

The league will also introduce an expanded postseason. Starting as early as next season, the NFL will have seven teams from each conference make the playoffs, an increase from the current format with six teams per conference.

With the Chiefs looking like the clear favorites in the AFC West, having an extra playoff seed will help the Broncos’ chances of making it to the postseason. The AFC and NFC will now both have three Wild Card teams.
