UNC basketball makes cut for five-star shooting guard

The UNC basketball program has made the cut for a five-star shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class.

Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels received some good news on the recruiting front to start the 2024 year. On New Year’s Day a big North Carolina basketball recruiting target in the 2025 class decided to make an update to his recruitment.

And North Carolina was part of that update.

Five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson cut his list of 19 offers down to a final 8. Peterson named North Carolina, Baylor, Kansas, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio State, and Arkansas on his final list as he will focus on those schools moving forward in his recruitment.

For North Carolina, they are among the teams that take a step forward in his recruitment and are still in the running. Hubert Davis and his staff have watched Peterson over the past year, identifying him as one of the top recruiting targets on their board for the 2025 class.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Peterson plays at Huntington Prep is and ranked as the No. 3 player nationally, No. 1 shooting guard, and No. 1 player in the state of West Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
