Ty Law picking Patriots to win Sunday for this particular reason

Ty Law explains why he’s picking the Patriots to upset the Eagles.

Predictions are rolling in for the New England Patriots’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Patriots are obvious underdogs at home against the defending NFC champions, but former Patriots cornerback Ty Law is leaning towards an upset for one reason: Tom Brady.

New England is set to honor Brady during the game, which is expected to have many Patriots legends in attendance.

This will be Brady’s first return trip to New England since he was in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform back in October 2021. For what it’s worth, Brady bested the Patriots by a 19-17 score. He threw for 269 yards in the game, and the Patriots defense held him to a 51.2 completion percentage.

Law appeared on The Greg Hill Show on Thursday and picked the underdog Patriots to beat the Eagles because of the Tom Brady effect.

“I’m still saying that we’re going to feed off the energy of Tom Brady, said Law. “If Tom Brady was not coming, I wouldn’t be comfortable picking the Patriots, even though that’s my team. I’m always going for them. But because Tom Brady’s coming, there’s going to be so much energy there.

“Hopefully, Tom can go in there and talk to the team and get them ready to rock and roll. I know Belichick is always going to be prepared to have a good game plan. It’s up for those guys to go out there and make no excuses and play lights-out football. I think that energy will come from Tom Brady, so they can squeak one out because it’s early in the season.”

There is certainly going to be a ton of excitement for Brady’s return and the other subplots, including Brady watching his successor in action. Mac Jones will be coming into the game looking to bounce back from a rough 2022 season.

There will be nostalgia mixed with memories of the past and hopes for the future. This isn’t a game to miss.
