Well, after a day of unfortunate news in the world of college football, we won’t put this one in the glass-half-full category either.
According to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, two prominent Power Five athletic directors have told him that it’s “inevitable” college football will not be played this fall. Now, it’s not a done deal, and nothing is official yet, but according to Dodd, these two are some powerful decision-makers when it comes to the fate of sports this fall.
The reason is exactly what you think it is. On the tails fo the Mid-American Conference shelving its 2020 football season, the Big Ten pausing any progression to pads, players banding together to take a stand, and others opting out of the season, there is a growing sentiment that there’s just no way to keep this all on the narrow path to having a season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
As far as timing goes, Dodd believes that from what he’s hearing, a decision should come down by the end of the upcoming week.

None of this is great news of course, and we must remember that 2020 has reminded us time and time again to take things in stride. As such, we’ll continue to move ahead with plans for a season for Ohio State, but it definitely is not looking good.
