New Orleans Saints safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was the victim of a surprising double-tap by Chicago Bears wide receiver Javon Wims, who approached Gardner-Johnson after a mundane play before sucker punching his opponent. It caused a brawl between Gardner-Johnson’s Saints teammates and the Bears offense and led to Wims being ejected from the remainder of the game.
It was very strange, to say the least. The incident sent social media into an uproar, with fans and former players on Twitter expressing confusion at what exactly just happened. Most of the befuddlement was understandable: why would Wims choose to punch a football helmet, twice?
Hands down the most belligerent play I’ve ever seen an NFL player make. If that doesn’t cost SUBSTANTIALLY more than what they charge a defensive player for trying to make a play….

I never understood why football players punch a helmet. Might be the dumbest thing ever

The way wims handled that situation seems bigger than the game to me, why he bowed up after like yea I’m bout that… 🤔… ain’t nobody just gon do that just cuz He stuck a finger in another teammate face… I just don’t believe it…

Watched the Wims play a bunch of times. I don't know. Seemed incidental. Just got tangled. Let 'em play.

Javon Wims definitely just realized he's playing against Dalvin Cook and DK Metcalf in fantasy today.

Javon Wims should come out the locker room and punch Nick Foles for that throw tbh.

Some thoughts
1. I have never seen anything like this
2. That was personal
3. He knew right away he was about to pop off
4. He could’ve broke his hand
5. He will get fined and probably suspended
6. This doesn’t make any sense
7. Keep some folks around you like Janoris https://t.co/SaGAF7zxkQ— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) November 1, 2020

What the hell happened there with Wims? Did I miss something?
I had to have missed something.

Still sitting here trying to figure out why Wims would do that

That Wims 💩 was wild. Idk if I’ve seen that on the pro level. Gotta be some beef there. Maybe he was sticking up for Miller from earlier in the game. I’ll tell you one thing tho. I want Janoris w/ me if sh*t goes left!

And the thing about it is, Bears' Javon Wims doesn't appear to be bothered by the ejection on the wqy out…
