Twitter reacts to Chase Young missing Week 1 and potentially longer

Reactions were all over the place regarding Young missing Week 1 as he deals with a neck injury.

The Washington Commanders downgraded defensive end Chase Young to out for Sunday’s Week 1 opener against the Arizona Cardinals.

Of course, Young’s status for Sunday created quite a stir on social media, particularly Twitter. The reactions were wild, leading some to label Young a bust, while others insinuating he doesn’t care and there were some with more reasonable takes.

It’s important for everyone to know Young is dealing with a neck injury. While a stinger may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, it’s still an injury to the neck. You don’t take chances there. Young said last week he was ready. Head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio praised Young’s work ethic. Ultimately, while Young is now cleared for contact, the Commanders want to see how he responds to contact in practice.

Ben Standig of The Athletic reported Young could be out until Week 3.

Let’s look at some of those Twitter reactions.
