Tre’Davious White tells Drew Brees to ‘take back’ apology

Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White tells Saints quarterback Drew Brees to take back apology for comments.

After making comments that received a lot of backlash from folks across the NFL this week, Saints quarterback Drew Brees made a public apology on Thursday about his remarks. Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White knows a thing or two about taking things away from a QB, but White suggested the opposite in light Brees’ apology.

White told Brees to take it back.

Following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, peaceful protests against police brutality on African American citizens in the country have popped up all over. This issue isn’t new to the NFL as former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick shed light on the issue by taking a knee during the national anthem in 2017.

Brees was asked about that same situation this week and said he would be against players taking a knee during the anthem when the 2020 season starts, stating he doesn’t believe it’s “right.”

Buffalo’s star defensive back does not accept the apology, taking to his social media account on Twitter and stating “we heard you loud and clear” and “don’t take it back.” Here’s White’s full statement:

At first, Bills players didn’t say much about Brees’ controversial comments. But new Bills defensive end Mario Addison spoke out prior to Brees’ apology, late on Wednesday, posting a picture of him sacking Brees in the past with his message. White joins Addison in speaking out against Brees’ comments in terms of current players on the Bills. Former Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson, now with the Dolphins, was among one of the first NFL players to speak out on the QB’s statement on Wednesday.
