Top-45 prospect puts Tigers in his top 8

A highly-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2024 has put Clemson in his top 8 schools.

Clemson is in the mix for a highly-touted basketball prospect.

Four-star shooting guard Austin Swartz took to social media to announce he is down to eight schools. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard will choose between Clemson, Miami, UConn, Florida State, Notre Dame, Georiga, Virginia Tech and Indiana.

Swartz is the No. 8 shooting guard prospect and the No. 43 overall recruit, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Tigers offered him in January after he took an official visit.

Swartz has scheduled six official visits in the coming months, but Clemson is not one of them, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

“The chemistry between the teammates stood out for me,” Swartz said of Clemson. “That was great to be around, and that is something that I want to be around. That was really the biggest thing, but also being around Coach (Brad) Brownell. This was my first time really being around him and hanging out with him a little bit. They’re all cool people who enjoy being around each other. It’s like one big happy family there.”

Clemson has one verbal commitment to its 2024 class in four-star power forward Dallas Thomas.
