Top five reasons fans are done with Tom Herman

After polling the crowd of the Texas Longhorns fan base, we have the five biggest reasons why they are frustrated with Tom Herman.

When it comes to the Texas Longhorns and head coach Tom Herman, everyone has an opinion on what the leadership in Austin should do about their embattled head coach.

Fans of rival teams want the Longhorns to extend him due to the fact that he hasn’t had much success in the position. Texas was 17-10 prior to Herman getting the extension following the 28-21 victory over a No. 6 ranked Georgia Bulldogs team in the Sugar Bowl. Since he signed that extension, the Longhorns are just 14-8 in the two seasons following.

It isn’t just the record of overall games, but who the opponents are. A record of 4-9 against Oklahoma, Texas Christian, and Iowa State. His lone victory over the Sooners in the Red River Rivalry was a thrilling one. Those types of victories have been few and far between against the top competition in the Big 12. His conference record is a meager 22-14, he is winning more than losing but it leaves a lot to be desired.

However, maybe it is time for us to see Tom Herman for what he is. He is an average to good coach, but he gets paid like an elite one. Herman is the third-highest paid head coach in the conference and not far behind Lincoln Riley and Gary Patterson. Breaking down his salary per win through the regular season, that equates to roughly $966,000 per victory.
