No. 5 – Alan Bowman and SaRodorick Thompson, Texas Tech
If one thing is consistent at Texas Tech, it is their high powered offense. The top passing team in the Big 12 last season, first-year head coach Matt Wells kept the Red Raiders’ tradition of great offense alive. a
However, the issue for Texas Tech has been starting quarterback Alan Bowman and his health. After playing in eight games his freshman year, Bowman suffered a season-ending injury in the Red Raiders’ third game of the season against Arizona. At the time, he was leading the Big 12 in passing yards.
The ground game could use some work but running back SaRodorick Thompson’s 12 rushing touchdowns did rank third in the Big 12 last season. Now entering his junior season, Thompson will be looking to elevate himself into a 1,000 yard running back.
Texas Tech’s season will depend on Bowman and his health. If the quarterback can finally play a full season, Well’s team may improve on their 4-8 record from last season and possibly push for a bowl game. Thompson and the run game will be a nice compliment to the arial attack in Lubbock.
