Top California defensive back has USC among his top 12 schools

USC would love to build a fence around its back yard and keep this prospect home.

USC 2024 target and California native Marcelles Williams is an incoming senior via St John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif). He is regarded as one of the best lockdown defenders in the nation.

This past Sunday, Williams broke down his list to a top 12: USC, Alabama, Colorado, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Washington.

He currently holds more than 35 offers but has the Trojans as a favorite for this upcoming season.

Williams was a star in 2022 for the Bosco Braves with 46 tackles and four pass breakups. Williams was also a very clutch defender with big plays at key moments, including two interceptions in the CIF Open Division state championship game against San Mateo Serra, helping Bosco win a state championship.

Marcelles Williams has two older brothers, Max and Macen, who played football at USC and Arizona State at defensive back respectively. It is intriguing to wonder if he can become the most talented prospect in his family.

The 6-foot, 171-pound cornerback is ranked as the No. 70 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 6-ranked cornerback in the nation.
