On Thursday night, the consensus top prospect in the 2022 class Emoni Bates, who plays for Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan, had a big match-up against Mykel Bingham and Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Four Michigan State Basketball players were in attendance for the big game and they were accompanied by an MSU assistant coach.
The four players were Cassius Winston, Rocket Watts, Aaron Henry, and of course, Marcus Bingham Jr. was there as well to watch his younger brother. The four Spartans were flanked by MSU assistant coach Mike Garland. Bates was in attendance for Michigan State’s home game against Maryland back in February.
The information comes from Andrew Slater who was in attendance.

Bates went off with the Spartans in attendance, dropping 48 points and 13 rebounds on a solid team in Grand Rapids Catholic Central. This only reaffirms what everyone already knows: Emoni Bates is the best prospect in high school. Period.
Five-star sophomore Emoni Bates tonight: 48 points and 13 rebounds. Kid is unbelievable. Had 63 points and 20 rebounds a few weeks ago.
Special prospect.

It will continue to be fascinating to monitor this situation, as it is starting to seem like this will end up being a decision between Michigan State or the NBA for Bates, and any chance of immediate access to the NBA would rely on major rule changes that have not yet been announced and might not come to be at all.
