The injury bug has already bitten Michigan State basketball.

The Spartans have begun practice in preparation for the upcoming 2024-25 season, and will be without at least one player over the next few weeks. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo told reporters on Tuesday that guard Gehrig Normand suffered a knee injury yesterday in practice that’ll keep out for “a few weeks.”

Here’s the full report from Stephen Brooks of 247Sports:

Normand redshirted for the Spartans last year and is expected to come off the bench this year in a reserve role.

Normand was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He is originally from North Richland Hills, Texas and ranked as the No. 124 overall prospect in the 2023 class.
