Titans signing RB Jacques Patrick after successful workout

The Titans are signing RB Jacques Patrick after a successful workout on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans are adding a running back to their roster, as the team is signing Jacques Patrick after a successful workout on Monday.

According to his agent, via Justin Melo of Broadway Sports, the Titans are signing Patrick to a two-year deal. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Melo notes Patrick’s signing comes in the wake of fellow back Jonathan Ward suffering an injury during the preseason Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears. Ward was listed with a knee injury and exited early, but Melo reports that it’s minor.

Here’s some of what we wrote on Patrick in our previous write-up about his impending workout with Tennessee on Monday:

A former undrafted free-agent signing of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020, Patrick, who played his college ball at Florida State, has appeared in two games during his career, both coming in 2021 with the San Francisco 49ers, where Titans general manager Ran Carthon was at the time.

The 6-foot-3, 234-pound back tallied two carries for 12 yards in those contests while playing primarily on special teams.

On top of his time in the NFL, Patrick played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL last year. He was the team’s leading rusher with 443 yards (3.9 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He finished second on the team with 238 receiving yards, also.

With Patrick in the fold, the Titans now have Ward, Derrick Henry, Hassan Haskins, Tyjae Spears and Julius Chestnut at the position. Along with Ward, Haskins was absent from practice on Monday, also.

Tennessee has been busy to start the week, as the team also inked defensive lineman Kyle Peko, who takes the roster spot of defensive lineman Shakel Brown after the 2023 UDFA suffered a season-ending injury on Saturday.

The Titans reportedly worked out veteran cornerback Ronald Darby, as well, but there hasn’t been any news of a signing there.
