LSU might not wear anything other than their gold uniform for the rest of the season. After a huge win on Thursday night, the Tigers went back to the gold for Friday night’s contest, and the Tigers had another great game at the ballpark with a 6-1 win over Vanderbilt to take the series.
[autotag]Ty Floyd[/autotag] got the start on the mound and in his first start in months, he looked great. Floyd finished with 5.1 innings pitched allowing one run on four hits and seven strikeouts.
[autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] started it off strong in the top of the first inning when he swung at the first pitch and blasted it over the left-field wall to make it 1-0 Tigers.
LSU then had a monster second inning to give them some breathing room. [autotag]Cade Doughty[/autotag] scored on a passed ball for the first run of the second inning, [autotag]Tyler McManus[/autotag] grounded out but [autotag]Jordan Thompson[/autotag] scored to make it 3-0, and then Crews came up and hit another Crews missile, this time a two-run shot over the green monster in left field to make it 5-0 Tigers.

The Commodores got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a solo homer to cut the lead to 5-1. In the top of the fourth inning, [autotag]Josh Pearson[/autotag] beat the throw on what would’ve been an inning-ending double play and allowed McManus to score and make it 6-1.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Tiger bats were back at it again as Doughty hit an RBI double to score [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag], and Thompson brought Doughty home on an RBI single to make it 8-1 LSU.

[autotag]Jacob Hasty[/autotag] came in to relieve Floyd in the fifth inning and in the bottom of the ninth inning, he gave up a two-run homer down the right-field line to cut the lead to 8-3 with no outs.
[autotag]Paul Gervase[/autotag] then came in to try and close the game. He retired the batters he faced, and the Tigers won 8-3. LSU clinched the series win over the Commodores and possibly locked up the No. 5 seed for the SEC Tournament next week. Game 3 will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
