Three-star shooting guard puts Texas in his final three

Three-star shooting guard Donovan Williams has put Texas in his final three. Oklahoma State and Kansas State join the race for him as well.

Shaka Smart has been trying to bring new talent to his squad for the 2020-2021 season. Testing the waters in the transfer portal in March, the Longhorns are now in the running for three-star shooting guard Donovan Williams.

Williams announced his final three schools on Twitter on Monday, putting Texas down along with Kansas State and Oklahoma State. Coming out of Lincoln, Nebraska, Williams will be heading to the Big 12 no matter his school of choice.

Currently, 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predicts Oklahoma State, where Williams would be joining an already loaded recruiting class.

His decision date is reportedly next Monday and will choose between the three schools. If Williams does choose Texas, he will be the first recruit of the 2020 class for Shaka Smart.

Also looking to bring in Greg Brown later this month, the two highschoolers could bring depth and talent to an already loaded Longhorn roster. With success needed in 2020-2021 from Shaka Smart, the addition of Williams will help next season.
