Three-star Nashville defensive end Alex Okelo commits to Michigan State football

Okelo is the twelfth member of Mel Tucker’s inaugural class.

Mel Tucker is dipping into the Volunteer state in his quest to build his 2021 recruiting class.

Three-star defensive end prospect Alex Okelo out of Pearl-Cohn in Nashville has committed to Michigan State.

Okelo, listed at six-foot-six and 217 lbs., chose MSU over offers from Florida State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Indiana, and North Carolina, among others. A raw prospect, Okelo has only been playing football for half a season, starting midway through his junior year. That short stint on the field was enough to earn him an impressive ten power five offers.

Okelo is rated as the No. 933 prospect in the class of 2021 in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is the No. 60 weak side defensive end and No. 26 player in Tennessee.

MSU’s 2021 recruiting class was ranked No. 75 in the country and No. 13 in the Big Ten prior to Okelo’s pledge.
