Texas recently offered three-star cornerback Philip Riley out of Bloomingdale High School in Florida.
Although the Longhorns were one of the last programs to offer Riley, it was enough to catch his interest and make the cut as one of his top seven schools.
I'm very Blessed to be in this position and thank you to all the colleges who have given me these amazing opportunities!!!

According to 247 Sports, Riley made an immediate connection with cornerbacks coach Jay Valai.
“I just got that offer recently but in that short time, they’ve amazed me with the love and they’ve been building something big at Texas. It’s big-time football and like they say, everything is big in Texas. I’ve been in contact with coach (Chris) Ash and coach (Jay) Valai and we’ve been building a good relationship. Coach V and I, we’ve been on the phone a couple times and I could feel how high of a priority I am.”
The other remaining programs to make the list were Minnesota, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Washington. After an explosive junior season, Riley had nearly 40 different offers.
The 6-0, 190-pound defensive back is currently rated the No. 26 cornerback in the 2021 recruiting class and the No. 56 overall player in Florida.
Texas currently has the top 2021 recruiting class in the Big 12, Riley would be the first cornerback commitment in the class.
