Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 87-71 loss at the hands of No. 1 Gonzaga on Monday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Gonzaga is incredible

This is probably the most lukewarm take you will read today but…Gonzaga is very, very good.

The Sooners played well in this game, and the Bulldogs didn’t play their best. And yet, Mark Few’s team won relatively comfortably by 16 points. They are the No. 1 team for a reason.

Even though Gonzaga is a full-blown powerhouse in college basketball at this point, many probably still don’t see a lot of their games given the conference in which they play and the tip times they often operate at. So to see them on a national stage at this point in the season can be eye-opening for many.

Their talent is so good top to bottom that it is hard to imagine them not finishing this tournament off with their first title. It is March Madness, where anything can happen, but they feel like as much of an overwhelming favorite as we’ve seen in recent years at this point.

It would not be the least bit surprising if Oklahoma wasn’t just eliminated by the eventual national champions again, just as they were in 2019 by Virginia.
