Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 84-65 win against Houston Baptist in Norman

Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s win over Houston Baptist Saturday afternoon at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

Oklahoma basketball extended their winning streak up to three games on Saturday with a 84-65 win over Houston Baptist.

It was not the prettiest afternoon of action for the Sooners, however, despite the win. The Huskies came into play just at 1-6 and yet were only down three points at the half.

Sluggish defense was a big reason for that as Houston Baptist simply got way too many clean looks at the basket. The defensive intensity picked up in the second half for Oklahoma and was a big part of why they were able to pull away.

Austin Reaves and Brady Manek had their usual solid afternoons offensively with 15 and 13 points respectively. Joining them with the offense was Victor Iwuakor who put up 12 in just 19 minutes of action off of the bench.

The win got the Sooners up to 5-1 on the year before a big showdown with Texas Tech on Tuesday night. Here are three takeaways from the Oklahoma win:
