The wheels have officially fallen off
It doesn’t take someone with high intellect or knowledge of the sport of basketball to know that entering a regular season finale on a three-game losing streak probably means you need to win that game. This was essentially the biggest game of the Sooners season to this point (as pretty much every game going forward is).
Finding a way to stop the bleeding with a big home win was imperative for this team to be able to salvage the end of the season and attempt to put together a run in the conference tournament and beyond. Now, it feels like this season may be past the point of no return.
Things can always turn around quickly, it is college basketball. But this one stings maybe more than any of the previous three due to the way it unfolded. Nobody from Oklahoma had overly big night and yet, it was there for the taking. Not to mention the question of if the game would have been different had Kur Kuath played more minutes will linger over this loss for the next week.
The Sooners have gone from the No. 7 overall team in the country to the No. 7 seed in the Big 12 Tournament in the matter of a couple of weeks. That is a plummet unlike many others we have seen, and the question marks surround this team are now suddenly massive.
