Three takeaways from Oklahoma’s 66-56 win against Iowa State in Ames

Three immediate takeaways from Oklahoma’s 66-56 win over Iowa State in Ames on Saturday.

Second half troubles

The second half collapse in this game I would classify as more perplexing rather than too concerning. Oklahoma dominated this game for the first 15 or 16 minutes, but Iowa State kept battling and erased a 21-point deficit to even briefly take the lead in the second half.

While letting that large of a lead slip is away is the exact opposite of something you would like to see at this point in the season, the Sooners regrouping to get things back under control and get the win still says a lot about the team.

Past Oklahoma squads may not have responded that favorably to a situation like that, so they deserve a lot of credit for staying level-headed to lock back in and get back to playing their brand of basketball. Although, not losing focus and intensity will need to be something they work on going forward.

Did the Sooners conquer Ames demons of teams past?
