Three reasons Texas lost to Arkansas

Texas’ momentum came to a screeching halt against Arkansas. Here are three reasons the Longhorns lost on Saturday night.

Missed offensive opportunities

Not many offensive opportunities presented themselves for Texas. There were three or four where the fortune of the game could have changed but as they did all night, Arkansas was able to prevail.

Jordan Whittington’s early drop in the end zone is the one that really sticks out. Arkansas was only up 3-0 and the time and Texas were coming off a sack and false start penalty. Hudson Card made a what would be rare play with his feet before firing it toward Whittington. He was falling backward but the wide receiver could have gotten both hands on it.

Cameron Dicker went on to miss a 52-yard field goal. With the short field, Arkansas goes down and makes it 10-0. A huge difference from a 7-3 advantage for Texas.

Card had a few overthrows on the deep ball too. Something we thought to be a strength of the redshirt freshman.

Texas only got on the scoresheet with Card on the field because of B.J. Foster’s interception in plus territory. Nothing else was capitalized on by the offense. Adjustments need to be made going forward.
