Three Reasons Northwestern could give Ohio State some fits in the Big Ten Championship Game

Ohio State will meet Northwestern for the 2nd time in 3 years in the Big Ten Championship Game. Here are 3 reasons the Wildcats could hang.

Northwestern will play with a chip on its shoulder

If we’ve seen it once, we’ve seen it over and over. There are certain programs that embrace that us against the world mentality and love to use the underdog card. In the case of Northwestern, it has become a part of the culture under Fitzgerald. It’s an academic institution, so recruiting the right kid is hard, and there are some built-in disadvantages that come with all of that and the lack of football tradition.

But this program is a changed one that is more than competitive now. It may not have been able to slay the Ohio State beast recently, but the Wildcats are knocking on the door and you can bet they can’t wait to play with emotion and purpose on Saturday.

This team might rise up and play its best game of the year because of the opponent and stage.
