The Texas Longhorns will be playing in an empty stadium Saturday

The Kansas Jayhawks Chancellor announced that no fans will be in attendance for Saturday’s game between the Texas Longhorns and Kansas.

On Saturday the Texas Longhorns will travel to play the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence.

When the team steps foot into David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, it will be an empty stadium. The Jayhawks Chancellor Douglas Girod announced that they won’t have fans in the stadium for either of their remaining home games on the schedule. They will host Texas Christian on Nov. 28.

The Longhorns have been playing in front of fans this season despite the ongoing issues with COVID-19. This will be the first time this year that won’t play in front of some sort of crowd. That could mean the game against Kansas State will also be in an empty stadium. Nothing has been said up to this point.

As for the game itself, Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger says they are in a playoff. Just not the playoffs they want to be in at this point. “We have to look at this as just as big as the next one,” Ehlinger said during his media availability. “We’re in the playoffs right now because if we lose another one, we’re out.”
