The Matt Ryan Colts trade means the Baker Mayfield job market has all but dried up

Welp.

Matt Ryan is now an Indianapolis Colt, thanks to the Atlanta Falcons dealing him to the AFC team in need of a quarterback.

But it also means that another open starting QB job is gone. And that’s the worst news for Baker Mayfield.

A reminder: The Cleveland Browns quarterback wrote a note thanking fans with his future there in doubt, then requested a trade that was reportedly turned down by the franchise.

But if he’s not happy, especially now that Deshaun Watson is there, shouldn’t the Browns send him to a team in need of quarterback help?

Here’s the problem: Where would he go to start?

The Steelers grabbed Mitchell Trubisky. Ryan is a Colt. Carson Wentz is apparently the answer in Washington. Maybe the Falcons are content to draft a QB. I guess Seattle could be an option? There’s no way the Texans are going to spend picks to get Mayfield (right?).

Hence all the Mayfield jokes:

“Wait!” you say. “What about the Falcons?”

About that …

Not good!
