The Lions had a perfect sarcastic response to having their new uniforms leaked

“We appreciate you ruinin’ all the hard work we put in.”

April 18 was supposed to be all about the Detroit Lions.

With a week to go before the 2024 NFL Draft, Detroit had jumped into the void of meaningful football news with a plan. That’s when the Lions would unveil their new uniforms, a Honolulu Blue throwback that would, at least for a few hours, become a trending topic across the sporting universe.

And then some unnamed news outlet, let’s uhhhhhh call them Canada Tomorrow, went and ran a Fanatics ad with the new jersey design. Fortunately, the Lions knew they were dealing with a gigantic glown shoe disguised as a sports apparel company and understood Fanatics’ capacity to botch this.

So they enlisted a 315-pound man to shame whomever leaked their new digs online.

Detroit’s social media team deserves a world of credit here. They understood the nature of their assignment. They calculated the capacity for a leak. And while it didn’t come in video form like the Lions may have expected, they still got defensive tackle Alim McNeill to chide Fanatics and that pretty good newspaper conglomerate who hosted the ad with a “we appreciate you ruinin’ all the hard work we put in.” while looking like a disappointed dad.

They also got some damning evidence Jared Goff may be behind the whole thing.

That’s a dang near perfect response.

(Sorry about the ad.)
