The Last Dance: Five Notre Dame Connections to Michael Jordan

Have you enjoyed “The Last Dance” on ESPN? Michael Jordan never played against Notre Dame but he did have more than a couple connections.

Did you know that Michael Jordan never beat Notre Dame while he played at North Carolina?

OK, he never lost to them either seeing as the two schools never played during Jordan’s 1981-84 run with Dean Smith and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Jordan was however college teammates with former Tar Heels forward Matt Doherty who would get into coaching himself, spending the 1999-2000 season at Notre Dame before leaving for the head job at North Carolina.   Doherty would be relieved of his duties after three seasons in Chapel Hill.
