The Buffalo Bills need to wake the hell up

With a difficult schedule looming, the Bills can no longer sleepwalk their way through the season.

No team in the NFL plays to the level of their competition more than the Buffalo Bills.

For the second straight week, the Bills sleep walked for three hours against a far inferior opponent that they should have pulverized and made examples of.

They let the New York Giants with a backup quarterback and an XFL offensive line take the game down to the wire and escaped with a 14-9 win.

How did they follow up that performance? By trailing the 1-5 Patriots 13-3 at halftime and rallying back to take the lead, only to let Mac Jones march down the field and throw a game-winning touchdown to Mike Gesicki with no time left.

This is the same Bills team that embarrassed the Dolphins 48-20. The same Bills team that, at their best, is as good as any team in football. But it’s also the same Bills team that could play Slippery Rock University and make the game competitive. Buffalo plays their sharpest against the league’s best, but looks lost against the league’s worst.

Yes, they were without Matt Milano and Tre’Davious White- that’s not an excuse. There is no reason Tyrod Taylor, Mac Jones, and two no-name offenses should be able to hang with Buffalo, and yet they allow them to.

And at 4-3, Buffalo just put a lot more bumps in their already-difficult road. If the Dolphins defeat the Eagles, Buffalo goes down two games in the AFC East. Their final six games are as follows:

  • at Eagles
  • at Chiefs
  • vs. Cowboys
  • at Chargers
  • vs. Patriots
  • at Dolphins

Plus, they have a trip to Cincinnati to face the Bengals and host the Jets, who already beat them in Week 1. Buffalo has played nonchalantly for too long-it’s time for them to wake the hell up.
