Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy took the college football world by storm in Week 6.
His performance against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown was one of the best individual showings of any wide receiver in the program’s history. The speedster concluded the game with nine catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
It didn’t take long to get Worthy involved against the Sooners, as he recorded a 75-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the game. Since that moment, he was unstoppable.
As expected, Worthy was named PFF’s True Freshman of the Week.

Bringing Worthy to Austin was the top recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian this offseason. Sarkisian built a strong relationship with the four-star wide receiver throughout his time as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, but Worthy ended up choosing to sign with Michigan.
Shortly after requesting a release from his letter of intent in April, Sarkisian and Worthy picked up where they left off. He officially signed with Texas on June 13.
He’s made an immediate impact for the Longhorns up to this point, and is arguably the top receiver in the Big 12. Worthy has accumulated 25 receptions for 531 yards and six touchdowns through the first six weeks of the season.
