Texas women’s basketball earned a No. 2 seed, will host first two rounds

Texas to host first two rounds of the women’s NCAA tourney.

While the Texas Longhorns men’s basketball earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Vic Schaefer and the women’s team is a No. 2 seed in their bracket.

The Big 12 Tournament Champions will get to play the first two rounds at home in Austin, Texas. The Frank Erwin Center will host at least one more game for the home team.

Texas will tip off the tournament with the No. 15 Fairfield in the first round. Should they win that game, which they will be heavily favored, the Longhorns will face off with the winner of Utah (7) and Arkansas (10) game.

The other half of the Big 12 title game, Baylor, also is a No. 2 seed in the Wichita Region. The Longhorns could see an old nemesis in the Sweet 16 with Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers earning the No. 3 Seed.
