The old Big 12 matchup’s 11-year hiatus will come to an end on Tuesday. Here are four things to know about the Alamo Bowl between UT and CU:

Colorado’s first game in the state of Texas since 2009

Colorado was one of the first two teams to leave the Big 12 with Nebraska after the 2010 season. In its final season in the conference, the Buffaloes did not travel to the Lone Star State. The Oct. 10, 2009 matchup in Austin was the last time they were in Texas.

Before COVID-19 restricted Colorado to Pac-12 only games, a trip to College Station to face Texas A&M was on the cards. Had the Buffaloes not qualified for the Alamo Bowl, 2022’s nonconference schedule has a trip to Fort Worth to square off against TCU.

If you are looking for their last win in Texas, it came in Oct. 2007 against Baylor. Although it has been over a decade, it will be a familiar trip south for Colorado. They will be looking to break that 13+ year streak without a win in the Big 12’s flagship state.
