Texas opened as 10-point favorites at the beginning of the week for Saturday’s matchup against Baylor. Since then, the line has moved in favor of the Bears and is down to 8.5 points per BetMGM.
The Longhorns have been favored in three of their games this season, only covering in one. UTEP fell victim to the 45-point spread in the season opener, while Texas Tech and TCU covered as double-digit underdogs.
In their sole game as an underdog, Texas failed to cover the field goal spread against Oklahoma. The Sooners won by eight points in the fourth overtime.
As to why the line is moving in favor of Baylor?
Jordan Whittington has been the only major injury news on either side of the ball. The redshirt freshman wide receiver is going to miss at least a couple of weeks with a hip flexor.

Off the field issues have been the main focus for the Texas program this week, not the football game. ‘The Eyes of Texas’ controversy has been the main focus of every Tom Herman press conference.
Add in all of the issues happening on the field and it is easy to see as to why the public is keen on the Bears having a solid performance in Austin.
Baylor’s biggest question entering the week has been COVID-19. The Bears had to cancel their Oct. 17 matchup against Oklahoma State after 28 players and 14 staff members tested positive.
Head coach Dave Aranda announced on Monday that Baylor had zero new positive cases for COVID-19 after testing on Sunday. This news put the Bears in a great position to play their first game in nearly a month.
