Texas Tech lands 5-star WR commit Micah Hudson

What a huge win for Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders.

Despite starting the season 0-2 with losses to the Wyoming Cowboys and the Oregon Ducks, the Texas Tech Red Raiders earned their first win with the commitment of five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson.

The news was reported by On3 on Monday night. The Texas product has become the highest-rated Texas Tech commit since they began ranking prospects in 2000. According to 247Sports, Hudson is the No. 19 prospect of the 2024 class and the No. 4 player in the state of Texas.

It has been reported that relationships were important to Hudson and head coach Joey McGuire was a huge part of that process. McGuire knows the recruiting trails really well dating back to his time as a high school football coach in the state, where he won three state championships.

With Hudson now committed to the Red Raiders, their recruiting class jumped to No. 23 class ahead of the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 247Sports’ composite team rankings.

Will this move have a ripple effect with players wanting to join the Red Raiders? One player who will be ecstatic is current QB commit Will Hammond, who has been putting up some monster numbers this year for Hutto in the Lone Star State.
