Texas target Bryce Anderson includes the Longhorns in top five schools

The Texas Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian have made four-star safety Bryce Anderson a priority in the 2022 recruiting class.

The Longhorns are inching closer to landing one of their top targets on the defensive side of the ball for the 2022 recruiting class.

Four-star safety Bryce Anderson officially released his top five schools on Saturday. Michigan, USC, Texas A&M and LSU join Texas as the final programs left in his recruitment.

The Beaumont native is listed as the No. 4 safety from the 2022 recruiting class according to 247Sports composite rankings. In 2020, he was named 21-6A first-team all-district at quarterback as a junior for West Brook High School.

His athleticism, instincts, and awareness allow him the versatility to play multiple positions, but his long-term fit appears to be in the secondary at the collegiate level.

Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon and passing game coordinator Terry Joseph are listed as the primary recruiters for Anderson. Several 247Sports crystal ball predictions have been entered in Texas’ favor, but their in-state rival is rumored to be the second favorite.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine recently listed Anderson as the No. 7 overall prospect in the state of Texas.
