Texas slides down two spots in AP poll after West Virginia loss

Texas dropped two spots in the latest AP poll, reflecting their consistent struggles over the past few weeks.

Texas’ weekend game against West Virginia ended in disappointing fashion, where they blew a double-digit second half lead. The Longhorns have now lost four out of their last six games and have fallen to fifth place in the Big 12.

In the latest AP poll, Texas has once again dropped, reflecting their consistent struggles over the past few weeks. Shaka Smart’s squad ranks at No. 14, sliding down two spots from last Monday’s edition.

Tuesday’s opponent, Kansas, is one of the hottest teams in the conference and jumped back up to No. 17 in the poll. Winners of five straight, the Jayhawks are coming off of a big win against No. 18 Texas Tech.

As they have all season, Baylor remains the top-ranked Big 12 team in the country. It has been since Feb. 2 since the Bears played a game, but they will finally return to action on Tuesday against Iowa State.

Oklahoma and West Virginia round out the top teams in the conference, coming in at No. 7 and No. 10 respectively. Both have four losses in Big 12 play and will be vying for the two-seed in the upcoming Big 12 tournament.
