At first you may scratch your head at this selection, but hear me out. The Texas defense has been horrendous at times over the past few years, therefore it should be easier for Chris Ash to showcase immediate improvements on that front. It’s tough to get much worse than it’s been, right? For this particular year, I believe Yurcich is under the most pressure to get the job done because of the talented weapons at his disposal. If he can’t succeed with these players, will he ever?

The Longhorns offense in itself hasn’t been their downfall, it’s typically centered around who’s calling the plays conservatively. Yurcich has an experienced quarterback who is likely to become a Heisman trophy contender, two of the best offensive lineman in the Big 12, an impressive running back by committee, and several Swiss Army Knife type of players that should see the field often. The only major question mark is the wide receiver competition on the outside. Yurcich stepped into one of the most attractive vacant coaching positions in all of college football, now he needs to produce.
