One season can change your life.
Texas running back Jonathon Brooks patiently sat behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson on the depth chart since arriving on campus in 2021. When it was finally his turn to receive significant playing time in 2023, Brooks exceeded expectations.
Unfortunately his 2023 season was cut short due to a torn ACL in the win over TCU in November. Although he missed the final four games of the season, Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. He averaged 6.1 yards per carry.
Many believe if Brooks wouldn’t have been sidelined due to injury, he would have likely taken home the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back.
On Thursday, Horns247 reported that Brooks is expected to enter the 2024 NFL draft. According to NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper and PFF, Brooks is the No. 1 running back in the draft.
