Texas RB Bijan Robinson named Maxwell Award semifinalist

The award is given annually to the best player in college football.

Texas star running back Bijan Robinson was named a semifinalist for the 2022 Maxwell Award on Tuesday. The award is given annually to the best player in college football. Robinson is one of 20 players in the country who qualified for the list.

Robinson has been nothing short of fantastic in his junior season for the Longhorns. He stands as the Big 12 Conference leader in both rushing yards (920) and total touchdowns (13) through eight games. Many scouts have Robinson tabbed as the No. 1 running back prospect and a future first-round NFL Draft pick.

Winning the Maxwell Award would place Robinson with some elite company in Texas football history. He looks to become the fifth Longhorn to take home the award, joining Tommy Nobis, Ricky Williams, Vince Young and Colt McCoy.

The Maxwell Award winner is set to be announced on Dec. 8 during the annual ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
