Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers’ return to the football field went about as well as one could ask for.
Steve Sarkisian dialed up an excellent game plan for Ewers to thrive and he delivered. The former five-star prospect looked like a seasoned veteran in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday despite only making his third career start.
The Longhorns mopped the floor with its red river rival behind a superstar performance from Ewers and the Texas offense. Ewers picked apart the Oklahoma defense for 289 yards and four touchdowns in the 49-0 victory. He hit tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders for two scores, sending the Sooner fans to the state fair lines early.
Ewers has been named Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week following his strong efforts in Week 6. He becomes the first Longhorn to receive such honor this season.
The potential of Texas’ offense with a healthy Quinn Ewers is through the roof. The Horns are difficult to defend when clicking on all cylinders.
