The Texas Longhorns are ramping up preparation for the season, with new starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. While we can only wonder how he will handle his role at Texas, his head coach believes he is progressing at the right pace.
According to Anwar Richardson, Quinn Ewers is making the kind of improvement that Steve Sarkisian expected.
Many who follow the program are withholding judgment on Ewers until they see him play on the field. Albeit, reports like that make it easy to get excited about the freshman quarterback’s potential.
It goes without saying that the Ohio State transfer will probably not be ready to defeat Alabama in Week 2. Alabama is the clear national title favorite this season after a narrow loss to Georgia in last year’s national title game. How Ewers performs after the Week 2 matchup will be more indicative of what he contributes to the team.
Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said QB Quinn Ewers is having a good week of practice. Said Ewers used his legs during a two-minute drill to make an explosive play during practice on Thursday. Sarkisian said Ewers is making the strides he hoped for.

Ewers will need to excel for Texas to reach expectations this year. The young quarterback has the physical tools. If he can master the mental side of the college game, Texas could be dangerous offensively this year.
