Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was off to a fantastic start against No. 1 Alabama before leaving the game with a shoulder injury near the end of the first quarter.
The injury appeared to be significant and Ewers was taken to the locker room. Many feared it to be a broken collarbone, but Texas received favorable news on Sunday.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Ewers had an MRI on Saturday and was diagnosed with an SC sprain that will keep him sidelined for 4-6 weeks. The earliest date Ewers could potentially return is Oct. 8 vs. Oklahoma.

The Longhorns will have to rely on Hudson Card to carry the load until Ewers is able to confidently return from this injury. Card is dealing with injury issues of his own, notably limping throughout the Alabama matchup.
