Texas OL target Cameron Williams decommits from Oregon

The departure of Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal could prove to be very beneficial for Texas.

It was reported on Monday morning that Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal is leaving Eugene to accept the same role at Miami.

Due to the unexpected coaching change, several players and commits are now reconsidering their decisions. That happens to be great news for Texas, as two of their offensive line targets in the 2022 class originally committed to Oregon.

Five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks already announced that he is re-opening his recruitment. Now, the Longhorns are back in the race for three-star offensive tackle Cameron Williams.

Williams announced that he was decommitting from Oregon on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5, 360-pound offensive lineman had a top three schools list of Texas, Oregon and Oklahoma prior to committing to the Ducks.

He is an underrated prospect and possesses the skills to play higher than his projections. If Texas can get Williams to Austin, he has the potential to develop into a starter under Kyle Flood.

The Longhorns badly need to strength their offensive line unit, and being able to land Williams or Banks would be a nice surprise to close out the 2022 cycle.
