Texas’ offense is poised for an explosive year in 2023

The Longhorns will be home to one of the most high-powered offenses in the country this upcoming season.

Offense is the name of the game in college football, and if you don’t have a good one your chances of winning decrease exponentially.

While Texas had a solid offense in 2022 thanks to a two-man wrecking crew at running back in Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, the Longhorns should have one of the best offenses in the country in 2023.

With quarterback Quinn Ewers having a second year in the system and some time to learn from his mistakes, Texas’ offense is poised to be much more dynamic than they were a year ago.

Having four receivers who would likely be the best wide out on just about every team in the country will also help Ewers succeed. However, what will really help this unit is their experience. Something that 247Sports’ Brad Crawford cited as a major reason that he declared the Longhorns will be one of the 12 offenses guaranteed to explode in 2023.

Texas returns starters at every offensive position this fall except running back, but there’s a five-star freshman there set to break out. This unit should be Steve Sarkisian’s best thus far. Quinn Ewers is the Longhorns’ quarterback starter ahead of five-star freshman Arch Manning and talented backup Maalik Murphy, but this room at Texas is truly dynamite. Despite losing Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson as its 1-2 punch in the run game, the Longhorns have recruited at an elite level back there with several guys expected to make a first-year splash. There’s Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Neyor and Georgia transfer AD Mitchell on the outside as well.

Due to their experience and the fact that a Steve Sarkisian led offense usually shred defenses to bits, Texas is widely viewed as a team that can win the Big 12 and maybe even make it to the playoff.
