Texas Longhorns vs West Virginia: Game grades from the 17-13 win

Following the Texas Longhorns win over the West Virginia Mountaineers, we are handing out grades in the virtual report card.

Offensive Line

Grade: A+

The offensive line as a whole was much better against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Darius and Dante Stills were going to be the toughest test to date for the five guys up front. They were able minimize their impact on the game from a pass rush standpoint. They combined for zero sacks and four tackles between the two of them.

The Mountaineers rush defense allowed just 97.8 yards per game on the ground coming into the Texas game. That was 11th best in the country at the time. Texas was able to gain 194 yards rushing against that West Virginia front. According to Pro Football Focus, Texas has been the 80th ranked run blocking team this year.

In pass blocking, the offensive line prevented the defense to get to Sam Ehlinger too often. They ended up surrendering just one sack, it was credited to right tackle Christian Jones. Jones was also the only offensive lineman called for a penalty in passing situation. A definite improvement. They allowed just six pressures as a unit against WVU. Maybe another unit finally turning the corner.
