The Texas Longhorns first matchup of the 2021 NCAA Tournament is against No. 14 Abilene Christian. The Wildcats are fresh off winning their second-ever Southland Conference Championship.
This is only Abilene Christian’s second appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the first coming in 2019 by way of a first-round loss to Kentucky.
The Longhorns opened as 8.5 point favorites shortly after the brackets were finalized. Their strength of schedule and array of shooters have made them not only a heavy favorite to win this game, but to also make a deep run in the tournament.
What do we know about the Wildcats? Where do they excel? Where can Texas take advantage? This is March Madness and assuming a victory before tip-off is never smart.
For each opponent that Texas faces, Longhorns Wire will preview their opponents strengths and weaknesses. Let’s kick things off with Abilene Christian.
